BBR Staff Writer Published 13 June 2013

Japan-based mobile operator SoftBank Mobile has chosen Gemalto’s Allynis Trusted Service Management (TSM) technology for the commercial launch of mobile NFC services in the country.

Hosted in Gemalto's secure data center based in Singapore, the open and scalable TSM infrastructure enables operators to launch new service providers into the NFC ecosystem.

Japanese banks growing appetite for adoption of mobile payment services has provided various options of NFC services, including e-ticketing and loyalty programs.

The support of NFC international standards has allowed contactless service interoperability across all mobile operators and service providers.

Adoption of Gemalto TSM will also enable the mobile company to provide NFC services in Japan and globally, paving the way to cross-border commercial agreements.

SoftBank Mobile product & service division vice president Hironobu Tamba said, "Gemalto's end-to-end solution secures the back-end and allows SoftBank Mobile to focus on developing value-added mobile NFC services."

Gemalto has more than 10,000 staff operating out of 74 offices and 14 research & development centers, located in 43 nations, globally.
