BATS selects Savvis’ Chicago facility as new secondary data centre

BBR Staff Writer Published 19 January 2012

BATS Global Markets (BATS) and Savvis have finalised a deal under which BATS will use Savvis’ Chicago CH4 data centre as its secondary data centre facility for all three of its US markets.

Under the current agreement, Savvis will offer both primary and secondary disaster recovery (DR) data centres for BATS' US operations.

The primary matching engines and associated trading infrastructure for the three markets are already hosted in Savvis' data centre in Weehawken, New Jersey, US.

The migration of the BZX Exchange DR site and the build out of the BYX Exchange and BATS Options DR sites in the Savvis Chicago CH4 facility will be completed by end of this year.

BATS will soon issue a detailed implementation schedule for its trading participants.

Currently, BATS uses a data centre facility in Nutley, New Jersey as the DR site for the backup of its BZX Equities Exchange.
